Planning Alex and Margaret’s garden wedding in Val D’Orcia

Alex and Margaret wanted to plan an unforgettable cozy wedding in Val D’Orcia with 50 of their best friends and relatives.
They wanted to spend time with all their guests and make them all part of their big day.
A smaller wedding is a great opportunity to create an extremely personalized experience. As always, we started by talking about the basics of the day: the style of celebration, the venue and the wedding day schedule.

The serenity of Val D’Orcia offered the ideal backdrop for Alex and Margaret’s wedding.
After considering a dozen country houses and historical villas in the region we opted for a splendid country house near San Quirico d’Orcia. Have a look at the guide of the most beautiful borgos for wedding in Tuscany

The rolling acres of this structure offered exquisite natural beauty, with perfect ceremony and reception settings, all with a view of the beautiful hills of Val d’Orcia.
Alex and Margaret also choose this location for its authentic country atmosphere. The interiors feature original terracotta flooring, grand fireplaces, wooden beams, four-poster beds and antique furniture. Its large garden is perfect for a spectacular outdoor ceremony and reception.

The friendly staff serves traditional Tuscan dishes and old family recipes according to what is in season. Everything is so genuine, fresh and authentic: jams and preserves are made from the fruit of the trees in the garden, the extra-virgin olive oil comes from the olive groves in the estate, the pasta is handmade and bread and pizza are baked in the wood-burning oven.
Finally, the wedding venue has many activities to offer, such as walks or horseback rides through the surrounding hills, wine tastings and cooking lessons.
Alex and Margaret were planning to get married in May, therefore to create the perfect look for this Spring elopement, our design team looked to nature for inspiration.

For the theme, we opted for an enchanted garden wedding with a romantic, dreamy aesthetic. The color palette featured pastel colors, like blush pink, ivory, lilac and pale yellow. Everything was decorated with flowers and petals.
For the final touches, we hired a live band, a wedding photographer, a video maker, we planned a series of outdoor games to entertain the guests and we put together a welcome box for all guests with a bunch of local delicacies.

The wedding day

On the morning of her wedding day, Margaret was feeling a bit nervous. Thankfully, we planned a very special breakfast buffet with her bridesmaid to give her an energy boost: fresh fruit and juices, pastries and croissants, savoury waffles, pancakes, poached eggs, bagels, French and avocado toast. It’s important to eat something substantial to have enough energy to get you through such a big day. The girls ate together while jamming to a playlist created with the bride’s favourite pop songs until finally it was time to get ready for the wedding ceremony.
Margaret’s hair and makeup artist opted for natural elegance for her wedding day style. Soft makeup allowed her beauty to shine through on its own, with long, loose curls framing her beautiful face.
The wedding dress was simple and elegant, yet she looked breathtaking! The bridesmaids wore beautiful silk dresses in different pastel colors.
Alex and Margaret got married at 11.30 in a civil ceremony performed by the Vice-Mayor of San Quirico d’Orcia. It was a very moving ceremony. They added their own readings, music and personal vows. The ceremony reflected their personalities and their love story and resulted in plenty of laughter and tears of joy.

The day continued with a nice aperitif in the garden and a delicious lunch. The guests loved the games we had planned in the garden: from the classic block-stacking game Jenga to bocce ball, from dart to the bride and groom trivia. Moreover, kids had so much fun with coloring stations, giant lawn matching games and hula hoops.

Planning Alex and Margaret’s garden wedding in Val D’Orcia was such a joy.
